The Mercedes Benz GT Black Series received an upgraded twin-turbo engine, the most powerful in AMG history, active aerodynamic elements and a suspension with adaptive shock absorbers and the ability to adjust the camber of the wheels.
The main acquisition of the GT Black Series is the upgraded V8 4.0 biturbo engine. The unit bears the internal index M178 LS2, is equipped with a flat crankshaft (the cranks in it are on the same plane, and not turned at an angle of 90 degrees) and two turbochargers installed in the camber of the cylinder block (Hot-V scheme). They are equipped with an enlarged compressor wheel and pump up to 1,100 kilograms of air every hour versus 900 for the GT R.
At its peak, the V8 develops 730 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, which are available in the range of 2000–6000 rpm.
The gearbox is a seven-speed AMG Speedshift DCT 7G robot with two clutches, installed in a transaxle configuration (displaced to the rear axle for better weight distribution) and connected to the engine by a carbon fiber power pipe. This part is 40 percent lighter than a similar one made of aluminum and was carried over to the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series from the GT R version.
The hardcore Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series comes standard with carbon-ceramic brakes, coil-over struts with adjustable spring preload and AMG Ride Control adaptive shock absorbers, manually adjustable anti-roll bars front and rear.
The interior of the new product features a combination of nappa leather and microfiber upholstery, standard carbon bucket seats, an AMG Performance steering wheel and lightweight door panels.
