The Maserati MC20 supercar became the brand's first model in 18 years with an engine of its own design. A V6 petrol engine, separately named Nettuno, is mounted longitudinally behind the seats. It has a 90-degree block, a displacement of 3.0 liters, combined fuel injection, a dry sump lubrication system and two spark plugs per cylinder. A pair of turbochargers are installed not in the camber of the block, as is customary with German engine manufacturers, but on the sides. Engine output - 630 hp. at 7500 rpm and 730 Nm in the range of 3000–5500 rpm.
The coupe has an eight-speed automatic transmission with two clutches and rear-wheel drive with a limited-slip differential. Electronically controlled locking is available for an additional fee. The Maserati MC20, with a curb weight of “less than 1,500 kg,” can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of over 325 km/h. In the current fashion, the driving electronics have several modes - standard GT, rain Wet, Sport, racing Corsa, as well as ESC Off with the stabilization system completely turned off.
The chassis has a classic double wishbone suspension front and rear. Brembo front brakes have six-piston mechanisms, fixed calipers and 380 mm discs. The rear brakes are simpler - four-piston, with 350 mm discs. Interestingly, 97% of the coupe's driving tuning was done using a computer simulator, and only the final fine-tuning took place on real roads. The company is proud that this has reduced the development cycle to just two years.
